Memorabilia Valuations
Days one and two of the Sydney Test Match
Firstly, a huge thank-you to all our Members who took advantage of the ‘Free Memorabilia Valuations’ with Michael Fahey at the Sydney Test. The response was overwhelming and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the chance to learn a little more about their treasured items – in some cases – many were delightfully surprised as to how valuable their keepsakes were!
And how eager is this...Tim Gilbert from Channel Nine was actually conducting a live broadcast back to the studio the first morning of the Sydney Test and featured the ‘Free Members Valuation Stand’ on-air – with that – a Member who spotted the segment on television, raced across to the SCG within 30 minutes to show us an Australian Team Sheet from 1953!!!
Secondly, Michael reports that he met with over 250 Members throughout the two days, not to mention numerous telephone calls and emails as a lead up to and straight after the Test. While Michael has seen many unique items throughout his many years conducting valuations & auctions, it would seem a few of our Members caught Michael by complete surprise with certain items no one ever knew existed! Here’s some highlights of the wonderful items:-
- Wisden Almanack’s – a complete set dating back to the inaugural publication in 1864
- Various correspondence/letters to Phillip Sheridan from the Australian Cricket Team Manager throughout the 1870’s and 1880’s
- A never before seen hat band and cravat used in Hugh Massie's tour to the UK c 1880
- Autograph books from the 1921 tour to the UK
- Various game day programmes for cricket, union & league
- Unique & most rare player pins
- Numerous Invincibles signed team sheets & photos
- Bradman bats, books etc
- Plus many other special items that members preferred to remain confidential
