History

The Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust honours our past as proud custodians of our history and traditions and believes in the SCG Museum vision:

MAKING HISTORY, PRESERVING HERITAGE, SHARING TRADITIONS.

Make a tax deductible donation today to help the Trust create a new Sports Museum for Sydney that will expand the current museum’s exhibition space ten-fold and preserve our historic objects in a state-of-the-art archive.

What We Do

The Trust aims to be an effective custodian of the heritage and traditions of our grounds and the sports they support by,

  • developing the SCG Museum and archive collection for the preservation of artefacts and interpretation of stories that tell our heritage
  • holding the annual Jack Marsh History Lecture series to encourage and foster curiosity based research and publication into our sport history.
  • sharing the museum and history of the SCG, Allianz Stadium and the Sydney Sports Ground with the public via the SCG Tour Experience
  • implementing a Heritage Asset Management Strategy and Heritage Interpretation Plan that maintained the heritage listed Members Pavilion (1886) and Ladies Pavilion (1896) alongside movable heritage items, such as the 1924 Robertson and Marks scoreboard and Boxer's roller
  • keeping a living memory of experiences at the grounds through the SCG Oral History Project, and
  • honouring significant sportspeople and administrators who have made significant contributions at the grounds and to the development of the Trust.
