Waratahs look ahead to Brumbies derby

March 14, 2017

The NSW Waratahs return from South Africa to take on the Brumbies this Saturday in their biggest home derby of the regular season at Allianz Stadium.

It shapes as a pivotal clash as both teams look to claim their second win of the season. Last year, the Brumbies celebrated their first victory at Allianz Stadium in 14 years, a 26-20 nail-biter to all but ruin the Waratahs’ finals hopes.

This is certainly a game to circle on the calendar for rugby fans, with history proving that this clash always lives up to the hype.

Waratahs flyhalf Bernard Foley is eyeing off a return this week after missing the opening three rounds with concussion symptoms. It’s a timely return for Australia’s top playmaker as the Waratahs look to bounce back from losses to the Lions and Sharks overseas.

“Games like this weekend is a game that I reckon will kickstart the guys into form,” Foley said. “I think we’ll really start seeing combinations start gelling. I think a tough tour of Africa can really galvanise guys together.”

Gates open at 6pm for a 7.40pm start on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased here.
