SCG XI - Did you know?

  • SCG XI won their inaugural match on November 26, 2008 against Paddington Cricket Club.
  • The team for that first game was: Neil Maxwell (Captain), Russel Arnold, Tom Godfrey, Anthony Brooks, James Crostwaite, Matt Trodden, Andrew Downie, Ben Matthews, Markham Matthews, Craig Hawkins, Ackshay Nickale, Andrew Hoppett,
  • The SCG XI defeated the Sydney Sixers in a trial match as the new lights were turned on for the very first time at Drummoyne Oval. In front of a 5000 strong crowd, the SCG XI won by seven wickets in a T/20 match.
  • Matthew Grice scored the first ever century for the SCG XI in 2009
  • Geoff Cordner took the first ever five wicket haul for the SCG XI in 2013
  • Phil Waugh has played for the SCG XI
  • Stuart MacGill has played for the SCG XI twice - against the Bradman XI (which then lead to him going on to play for the Sydney Sixers that season in the BBL) and against the MCC
  • Alyssa Healy has played for the SCG XI
  • Tim Gilbert has played for the SCG XI
  • Russel Arnold has played for the SCG XI
  • Jon Moss has played for the SCG XI
  • Greg Mail has played for the SCG XI
  • Dom Thornely has played for the SCG XI
  • Dan Smith has played for the SCG XI
  • Simon Katich is our current Club Captain
  • Corey Collymore has played for the SCG XI and despite his 30 Tests and 84 ODIs for the Wests Indies, had never played on the SCG until he played for the us in 2012.
  • Robbie Deans has played for the SCG XI and was an exceptional school boy cricketer before forging a career in Rugby. On his debut, he picked up the Man of the Match award when he played for the SCG XI in 2013.
  • Chandika Hathurasingha has played for the SCG XI and scored a quick fire 35 off 25 balls when he played for us against the MCC in December 2012
  • Brett Papworth was our Tour Captain for the UK tour in 2013
  • Neil Maxwell was our Tour Captain for the Hong Kong Tour in 2014
  • Stuart Clark has played for the SCG XI v MCC
  • Richard Burton was our Tour Captain for the UK Tour in 2015
  • David Yates was our Tour Captain for the India Tour in 2016

We have had four International tours:

o       UK in 2009 – mini tour of 9 days

o       UK in 2013 – three week tour

o       Hong Kong in 2014 – tour of 10 days

o       India in 2016 - 12 days
